FIRE DAMAGE UPDATE - JULY, 2008

On the evening of December 30th, our parish experienced a serious fire which destroyed the clothing room and food pantry used by Gerald Ryan Outreach.  Our rectory was also damaged severely. For Pictures of the fire, go to:

 http://www.fdphotos.net/gallery2/v/12-30-2007_wfd/.

Our church is now fully usable, our pastor, Fr. Bill Brisotti is settled in the temporary rectory, and the Outreach is up and running in temporary trailers.  We are currently working on finalizing the insurance settlement and working on plans for a new rectory and building for the Outreach.  We are exploring some possible changes in usage of our available space.  We recently installed air conditioning in our Parish Hall which is currently being used for our Gerald Ryan Outreach Summer Camp.  (See pictures below.)

We thank all those who are praying for us and caring about us. If you would like to help in any way, we thank you in advance and ask that you leave a message or send an e-mail including, if possible, what help you would like to offer. We currently need volunteers for the clothing room and food Pantry, and we could still use some office help just to list a few. We would love to include you in whatever way you are able to help. We are a strong and determined community and are moving forward with a goal of completing our re-building by mid-summer 2009.

Our biggest need is the finances to cover the new building for the Outreach. The outpouring of donations that occurred after the fire was overwhelming and was a great start toward being able to realize our goal. We will be starting a capital campaign in the near future to raise the balance we need. If anyone would like to offer help in this area, it would be greatly appreciated. A formal fund raising committee will be formed shortly.

If you would like to contact us about anything, please call 631-643-7568  or e-mail us at olmm@optonline.net.

Even in distress, the people of our parish find comfort in coming together to celebrate who we are as a community. We find ways to support each other, raise money, and carry on with the life of our church. We continue  TO BELIEVE, TO BELONG, TO BE COMPASSIONATE.
